"Les Gens de Justice" or The People of Justice was a series of etchings or prints, satirizing lawyers and the justice system in France. Printed about 1848 with plate marks on genuine rag paper, this is one of that series.
Honore Daumier was born in Paris in 1808 and died in 1879. Sleeping judges ignore a lawyer arguing for adult justice against an "orphan" who is 57.
The vintage silver gilt frame is in very fine condition on this antique work of art.
Overall size is 19" x 16 1/2" and 1" deep.
