This Georgian design tall chest or highboy was hand carved of solid mahogany during the Victorian period. Often called "Centennial" furniture, the style reflected the American centennial celebrations in 1876. Classic hand carved shell motifs are authentic.
The signature plate is signed by fabled maker, "R.J. Horner & Co. of New York City." Brass locks still work and are signed "G. Bayer, 1872."
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and original heavy solid brass hardware.
Measurements are 39 1/2" wide, 21" deep and 51 1/2" tall.
