A late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk has a cylinder roll top with book-matched burl and a bookcase above. Dating from about 1875, brass hardware is original on this American made library or office furniture.
Solid walnut with beautiful matched burl panels, the restored finish is in excellent condition with glowing antique patina. Doors have a working lock the upper drawer interior is rebuilt.
Upper shelves adjust on wooden supports. The roll top glides smoothly open, inside are cubicles and tiny drawers for papers. The pull out writing surface has a gold tooled leather insert.
Lower drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. For easier delivery, the bookcase is removable.
Measurements are 40" wide at the crown, 22" deep, 80" tall and the desktop is 29d" high.
