Japanese Antique Bronze Calligraphy Inkwells and Tray, 3 piece #38290

This Japanese antique calligraphy set and tray are cast from heavy, solid bronze. The set includes a sealed inkwell with a hinged lid, a holder for pens, and a sandbox, which was used to hold pounce, a powder made from cuttlefish bone that prepped a surface for calligraphy or dried the ink.

Well worn, there are loads of dings and mars for antique character on this charming piece.

Size is 9" wide, 4 1/2" deep and 3 1/2" tall.
