Victorian Walnut Eastlake Cylinder Secretary Desk

An authentic late Victorian or Eastlake secretary desk has a burled cylinder or barrel roll with a bookcase top. At the top of the burl panels on the cylinder there are old irregularites in the burl that are stable and solid. Crafted of solid walnut with incised "spoon" carving, the warm medium brown finish is excellent.

When the roll-top is opened, a leather writing surface pulls forward, inside are miniature drawers and compartments. Upper bookshelves are adjustable and hardware is original from about 1885.

The carved crown and bookcase are separate sections for easier moving, and dimensions are 41" wide, 23" deep, 7'7" tall and the leather writing area is 30" above the floor.
