Hooded Hall Porter's or Fireplace Chair

Signed by famous Chicago retailer, "Marshall Field's," this style of hooded chair was used by a hall porter to ward off drafts, and was also called a "fireplace chair" for concentrating fireplace heat in a drafty castle.

This cozy example is vintage furniture about 30 years old with a zippered cushion, double caned sides and an original white-washed fruitwood finish.
