This patinated metal sculpture depicts "Euterpe" playing the lute or harp from Greek mythology. The Muse of Music, she is the daughter of Mnemosyne, who was fathered by Zeus.
Beautifully draped in a naturalistic pose, this serene statue has lovely bronze patina. We see no damage or repair to this antique work of art, but there is slight wear to the subtly toned finish.
Called white metal or spelter, this cast figure dates from the 1890's, and is 19" tall with a base almost 7" in diameter.
