This sculptural podium, pulpit or lectern is made of hand-hammered copper. The glowing patina is beautiful on this burnished work of art from the 1970's.
It is attributed to David W. Laughlin, who is a sculptor graduate from the University of Central Missouri in 1950. Several of his works are displayed on the campus.
This one of a kind free form sculpture is entirely hand made, with every surface curved and hand wrought on all sides.
There are holes from a microphone, and religious mottoes incorporated into the mosaic copper design. Under the book rest is a shelf, and measurements are 46" wide, 36" deep and 51" tall.
