Victorian Cross Stitch Sampler
A Victorian needlework sampler is signed "S. Hoekstra" and is finely done in traditional cross-stitch design.
Such samplers were made by young school girls as teaching exercises and needlework practice. There are stains on the background. Probably sewn in the mid-1800's, the frame is modern.
Overall size is just over 11" x 11."
