This classic Eastlake or late Victorian secretary desk has a barrel or cylinder roll top. Carved of solid oak with ash burl panels about 1885, the warm finish is superb with wonderful golden patina and very little wear. Incised or "spoon" carving is characteristic of the period.
The upper bookcase section has glass doors and adjustable shelves, it is separate for easier handling.
Above the leather top pull-out writing surface are tiny compartments and a drawer. Matched curly ash burl on the roll is stunning, and hardware is original.
Dimensions of this American antique furniture are 42" wide, 22" deep, 6' 11" tall, and the writing surface is 28 1/2" above the floor.
