A charming and historic secretary desk was hand-made of solid cherry about 1790, said to be from New York state. Pull-out supports hold the drop front when opened, inside are cubicles and a tiny drawer.
The satiny finish is excellent, there is inlaid banding on the hand-dovetailed drawers. Glowing patina is beautiful with just enough mars and wear to show its age. There are hand-made faceted iron nails on the hewn back, hand-cut dovetails are visible on the top. Brasses were replaced long ago.
This antique American furniture measures 39" wide, 37" tall and 19" deep when closed, 32" deep when opened. The writing surface is 26" from the floor.
