A traditional wooden "firkin" or sugar bucket has a handle and lid. Handmade about 1890, the wooden lid and handle are original. The hand-painting is very old, this was probably used as a cookie jar.
A "firkin" is an old English unit of volume. This antique pine bucket was crafted like half of a miniature barrel, it has warm patina and original wooden banding.
Excluding the handle, this picturesque antique Americana treasure measures 8" diameter and 8" tall.
