A classic East Coast secretary desk with bookcase top dates from the Empire or Sheraton period about 1825. It is made of mahogany with matched flame grain drawer fronts, and the deep rich finish is excellent.
Entirely hand-made, there are square nails and drawers have tiny hand-cut dovetails. Shaped columns are beautiful. The flip-open writing desk has a saddle leather surface.
There are some shrinkage separations, see photos. The upper bookcase section is a separate piece for handling.
Dimensions of this historic American antique furniture are 40" wide, 20" deep, 5' 5" tall, the desk slopes up from 31 1/2" high at the front.
