We have never seen another partner's desk like this. Hand made of solid butternut about 1880, there is a writing desk area that is raised by sliding the drawer. The beautiful finish is in excellent condition, there are mars and losses for character at the edges, see photos.
The top is inlaid with natural saddle leather. Drawers have hand cut dovetails and embossed brass pulls. The center drawer has been rebuilt. As it slides in the angled writing easel raises, there are two knobs inside the drawer to remove and keep the entire desk top flat.
The other partner's side of the desk has two compartments with bookshelves. A relative of walnut, butternut wood is fine grained with warm color. Deep moldings are well scaled.
This grand Eastlake period American made furniture disassembles into three pieces for easy delivery. Measurements are 66" long, 42" deep, 31" tall and the kneehole is 21" wide and 24" high.
