This brass lamp has a patented "Aerolux" neon and argon lamp with phosphorescent flowers that glow when turned on. Dating from the 1940's, there is no filament, so these bulbs are very long life, like a neon sign. There is an Aerolux bulb on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
The base is solid brass with a switch and standard base socket.
