Signed by famous maker Friedrich "Mauthe" of Schweningen, Germany, an authentic Art Deco tall case or grandfather clock dates from the 1930's.
The mahogany case is sleek and stylish - entirely original and in very fine condition. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina.
Mounts are polished and burnished nickel, hour numerals are mounted on a burl walnut dial. The brass 8 day movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled, it keeps excellent time and three weights are wound with pull chains and strikes the hour. A bar of the famous "Westminster" chime tune from Big Ben in London rings on each quarter hour.
Size of this dramatic furniture is 27" wide, 13" deep and 77" tall.
