In Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew," the beautiful Bianca is the younger daughter of Kate. This bust of her in exquisite Renaissance garb was cast about 1890 in spelter, a white metal alloy similar to pewter. There is just enough wear to the deep bronze finish for a little antique character.
This work of art is said to be by the Italian artist, Caesar Calibelli, but there is no proof. The sculpture rests on an unattached polished granite block.
Measurements of this sculpture are 9" wide, 6" deep and 15" tall.
