From the fabled Black Forest, where Germany, Switzerland and France join in the Alps, this pair of chairs was hand carved about 1880.
The sophisticated artistry of this traditional folk art workmanship is remarkable. Walnut is inlaid with marquetry scenes of mountain animal motifs and burl panels. The old finish is in excellent condition on this antique furniture. One chair has a wind up music box under the seat that plays the familiar "Wedding March" from Wagner's opera, Lohengrin when you sit down.
Measurements are 18" wide, 19" deep, 37" tall and seats are 17 1/2" high. The matching game table in photos is priced and sold separately, call or email for availability.
