Black Forest Antique Oak Bookcase or China Cabinet, Carved Grapevines & Lions

A magnificent solid oak bookcase or china display cabinet from the Black Forest, where Germany, France and Switzerland meet, was hand carved about 1890 with grapevine, nuts, lion and dragon motifs.

The top of the base has been revarnished for durability, the rest of the original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Three dimensional carving is masterful on this antique furniture.

Shelves adjust on wooden supports. Locks and keys are operational and drawers have hand cut dovetail joints.

Dimensions are 56" wide at the crown, 24" deep and 95" tall.
