This bronze sculpture depicts a resting dog, most likely a Borzoi or Russian Wolfhound in a lying position on an oval base of genuine onyx. The artwork has a deep golden patina, and we see no damage.
The Borzoi, a hunting breed from Russia dating back to the 1600's was the dog of Queen Victoria, and became very popular throughout Europe. The Borzoi's elegance and long history has made it a popular subject for artists.
A genuine antique work of art, this vivid statue probably dates from the 1920's. Measurements are 12" long, 8" wide and almost 4" tall.
