Brass Antique 1800's Oil Lamp

Before kerosene and even before whale oil, this type of wick burning lamp would burn almost any kind of oil or fat. Hand-hammered of solid brass, there is an inner liner with a spout to hold the wick.

Hand-dovetailed and soldered, the base is weighted for stability. A drip catcher prevented fires, and there is a hole on the hanging bracket to hang this picturesque antique lamp on the wall. Overall height is almost 11."
