Salvaged from a carpenter's workshop, this well worn woodworking workbench was hand crafted about 1890, and could be an interesting kitchen island, wine and cheese tasting table or planting bench.
Solid maple hardwood, the restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving loads of antique character - dings, stains and wear. There is a recessed well to keep tools and parts from rolling away.
Two clamping vises still work on giant wooden screws. Joints are constructed with giant hand cut dovetail joints. Holes in the top were for movable posts when gluing projects. The rock solid base is secured with iron bolts.
The top lifts off for easier handling of this American made historic and functional furniture.
Measurements are 36" tall, 86" long overall including the vise handle, 81" without and 33" wide including the handle, 24" without.
