Masterfully hand carved with a heraldic family crest or coat of arms and birds, this extraordinary 1880 era secretary desk is solid fruitwood.
Entirely hand made, drawers have hand cut dovetails and hand planing marks are visible on this dazzling furniture from France. The original deep finish has warm antique patina and lots of character - mars, wear and dings, see photos.
Waxed and buffed, it needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its antique luster.
The drop front rests on pull out supports. Inside are tiny drawers and cubicles for notes, the inner lock does not work, the key is a handle only. Large lower drawers are graduated. Opulent brasses with embossed faces are original.
Measurement of this artistic and historic desk are 46" wide, 21" deep, 39 1/2" tall and the writing surface is 29" high.
