A genuine "coromandel" four panel screen was hand crafted in China by painting many coats of colored lacquer, topping in black and then delicately carving down to the colors underneath.
About 40 years old, this traditional technique is beautiful, depicting a garden scene with apple blossoms and birds. The back side is another garden scene against a satiny black ground.
There are rough edges, crackling from age and numerous touchups to this Asian work of art, see photos. Feet are brass.
Panels are 16" wide, 1" deep and 6' tall, so the screen is 64" wide if flat on a wall, if partially folded as shown, about 4' wide.
