An exquisite long case or grandfather clock from about 40 years ago has an original "Chinoiserie" or Chinese style hand painted enamel and lacquer finish, crackled and distressed to look antique. The shaped base and carved paw feet are beautiful.
The brass movement keeps excellent time for a week on a winding, playing the familiar "Westminster" chime melody on each quarter hour and counting the hour as well. The spring movement is wound by key.
The brass and pewter dial is inscribed, "Tempus Fugit," or Time Flies in Latin. On the back is the stamp of the seller, "Maurice Carion, Mechelen," Belgium.
Size is 21" wide, 13" deep and 7' tall.
