An authentic Country French one-door armoire from about 1760 was hand hewn of solid wormy fruitwood. Joints have carved wooden pegs, every surface has hand planing marks. Traditional hardware and the giant lock and key are traditional.
The old finish has wonderful warm patina, and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Every joint is slightly out of square on this charming hand crafted antique from France. The rough hewn original back has been reinforced with an "X" shaped brace for stability.
For easier moving, the crown is removable. Interior depth is 19" so a closet pole or shelves could be installed as desired.
Size is 47" wide at the crown, 40" wide in the body, 79 1/2" tall and 26" deep.
