Made for a baker about 1860 in France, this country pine flour bin has a hinged lid, inside are a bread board and a dough box for "proofing" or raising bread.
The old finish has just enough wear for a little antique patina, it has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
The sliding board and dough box are removable, underneath are divided bins for different kinds of flour. Corners of the dough box have hand cut dovetail joints on this picturesque kitchen furniture. Square cut nail heads are visible, the back is rough sawn.
Dimensions are 52" wide, 19" deep and 33 1/2" tall.
