A country pine sideboard was hand crafted in Scotland about 1860, and was also called a Welsh dresser or pewter cupboard.
The waxed finish has been buffed and has warm antique patina. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the warm luster. Hand cut dovetail joints are visible not just on the drawers but joining the top and sides as well. There are wooden pegs and cut nails on this lovely provincial furniture.
Spiral corner columns are charming. The upper section is removable for easier delivery. Brasses are old but not original on this historic British furniture. There are losses at the edges plus shrinkage separations for character, see photos.
Dimensions are 67" wide at the crown, 19" deep, 80" tall and the base cabinet is 34" high.
