Hand crafted of pine in the Federal period in the late 1700's, this understated secretary desk shows beautiful country workmanship.
The old finish has just enough mars and wear for a little antique character and patina. Classic construction includes hand planing and exposed hand cut dovetails on the drawers and top corners.
The drop front rests on pull out supports, the lock does not work, the key is a handle only. Inside are small drawers, one with a traditional shell carving, and cubicles plus two "secret" compartments. There are various restorations and repairs over the centuries. Brass pulls are old but not original on this New England furniture.
Dimensions are 44" wide, 23" deep, 43" tall and the desk top is 31" high.
