From the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1870, this classic secretary desk has a cylinder or barrel roll with a bookcase above.
Solid walnut with burl panels, the finish is in extremely fine condition with warm antique patina and very minor mars and shrinkage separations from age.
Bookshelves are adjustable on this American made furniture. The roll has beautiful book matched burl, it glides smoothly open. Inside are cubicles and a locking drawer for papers. Inset with leather, the writing surface pulls out. Lower drawers have original nickel ring pulls and characteristic round or pin and cove dovetail joints of the era. The roll locks, as does the bookcase door, there is a small loss to the escutcheon as shown.
Two separate pieces for easier moving, size is 36" wide, 22" deep, 7' 2 1/2" tall and the desktop is 29" high.
