A marvelous gateleg dropleaf dining table from the American Empire period about 1825 can also serve as a sofa or serving table.
Hand carved and planed, the solid cherry has a renewed satiny finish in excellent condition. There are minor shrinkage separations from age on incredible single planks of cherry wood that are over 25" wide, see photos.
Spiral shaped legs and cherry wood hinges on the gatelegs are all hand carved on this historic antique East Coast furniture. Cast brass ferrules and wheels are original.
Size when closed is 24" wide, 30" tall and 45 1/2" long. One side can be raised for serving, and with both drop leaves raised, the top is 45 1/2" x 74."
