An elegant hall console and matching mirror dates from the Empire or Biedermeier period, about 1825. The dazzling matched flame grain mahogany has a very fine hand rubbed finish with excellent color and antique patina.
Burnished gold leaf accents are in excellent condition. The separate mirror has charming wavy glass with some silver losses, it could be replaced or resilvered if desired. There are small shrinkage separations from age and some waviness, especially in the flat panel above the mirror, see photos.
Solid oak sides on the drawer have hand cut dovetails, the lock works. Lock in the lower door does not work, the key is a handle only.
Entirely hand made in Austria, probably in Vienna, this furniture measures 30" wide, 20" deep, 91" tall and the base cabinet is 34" high.
