An authorized Henry Ford Museum replica of a famous original tall case or grandfather clock is tiger or curly maple. Signed like the 18th Century original on the dial, "Thomas Jackson Preston," this vintage clock dates from the 1940's.
A burned in brand on the back reads "Greenfield Village, Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, Mich. numbered 230." The case has a very fine original finish, waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its golden patina.
The brass eight day movement keeps excellent time and is signed, "Jauch of Western Germany." It strikes the famous Westminster chime tune and counts the hour.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
Size of this historic design furniture is 19 1/2" wide, 12" deep and 85 1/2" tall including the finials.
