Made for a bank in northern France about 1900, this iron bank vault safe has an unusual lock operated by four brass dials. The complex machined steel mechanism is visible on the back of the door, signed "MD" and hall marked. A special key opens the tiny door to the four combination locks and then operates the main deadbolt latches as well. Combinations for the locks are included.
The interior has adjustable steel shelves and the door seals so tightly, the inside is a bit musty. Outside paint is not original and has various mars and scrapes as shown. This historic bank furnishing is extremely heavy, well over 500 lbs. which is beyond our scale capacity, and it takes four men and a strong dolly to move.
Size is 28" wide, 22" deep and 44" tall.
