Georgian Antique 1760 Oak Bible Box, Document Chest, Original Lock #32289

Hand crafted of six hand planed boards of solid oak about 1760, this traditional "Bible Box" or document chest has a working original lock. Hardware is hand wrought iron on this antique small Georgian period trunk, said to be from Pennsylvania.

The old finish is well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are various restorations, losses and shrinkage separations from age. Nails are hand cut.

Size is 25" x 15" and 8" tall.
