Called a "gout stool," this design of a footstool was angled to support a foot suffering from the painful "rich man's" disease, associated with imbibing too much rich food and drink.
Dating from around 1900, the mahogany base has an excellent glossy finish. The velvet tufted upholstery is recent and in beautiful condition on this antique furniture from England.
Measurements are 11" wide, 16" long and 8" tall.
