From the Hepplewhite or Federal period about 1780, this hall console table has two gate legs and flips open to become a game table as well. Both tops are single wide planks of richly figured solid mahogany, inlaid banding is ebony and satinwood. The banding on the left side is slightly different, see photos.
The restored finish is in very fine condition on this American made antique furniture. Rear gatelegs have carved wooden hinges and are strong and sturdy. The drawer has antique but not original brasses, hand cut dovetail joints and a chamfered bottom.
Dimensions in console position are 38" wide, 19" deep and 29" tall, open to a game table, the top is 37" x 38."
