Signed by famous German maker, "Kienzle," about 1900, an oak mantel clock keeps excellent time and plays the familiar "Westminster" chime melody on each quarter hour and counts the hour as well. The brass movement runs a week on a winding, and has mellow tone.
Hand carved, the case's original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The arched door has beveled glass, the dial has gold plated mounts. The silver plated number ring is tarnished, see photos.
Three separate winds are for time, Westminster chime and counting the hour.
Measurements of this superior quality antique clock are 13" wide, 8" deep and 18 1/2" tall.
