This Georgian Chippendale design secretary desk and bookcase from the 1940's is signed "Jasper," and has refined lines and exceptional workmanship. The top has a well proportioned pediment and finial. Four feet are carved ball and claw design, drawer fronts have serpentine or "ox bow" curves. Supports automatically extend under the drop front when opened, inside are "secret" drawers and cubicles.
The gleaming deep finish on mahogany is very fine, and has been waxed and polished, so that all that is needed to maintain its antique patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Lower drawers are dovetailed on this American classic vintage furniture.
Size is 31" wide, 78" tall and 17" deep, the writing surface is 29" high.
