This oak grandfather or long case clock plays the familiar "Westminster" tune on resonant chimes on the quarter hour and counts the hour as well. Nickel mounts and pendulum are beautiful on this 1925 era clock from Germany.
The solid brass movement has been professionally oiled and adjusted and keeps excellent time. Winding lasts a week, done by pulling the chains on the three weights. The dial is signed "Foreign" and the movement is signed "Haller AG".
Subtly shaded, the original finish on the arched oak case has been preserved with clear varnish. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Measurements are 21" wide, 12" deep and 76" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone.
The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
