A hand carved German grandfather or tall case clock from the Art Deco period about 1915 has been professionally cleaned and oiled. The brass movement runs for a week on a pull chain winding, and keeps excellent time. A resonant two note chime counts the hour and the half also has a strike. The embossed brass dial, weights and pendulum are original on this antique timepiece.
The original finish is in very fine condition on solid oak, it has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location. Measurements are 24" wide, 11" deep and 78" tall.
