This Renaissance design secretary desk was carved of solid oak about 1930, and signed "John M. Smythe of Chicago."
The original finish is in very fine condition with only minor mars and wear especially on the feet, the interior writing surface has been revarnished.
When the front is opened, wooden supports extend automatically. Inside are tiny drawers and letter cubicles. Locks work, lower drawers are dovetailed and have original brasses on this virtuoso American made antique furniture.
Measurements are 33" wide, 17" deep, 77" tall and the writing surface is 29" high.
