This lovely sculpture is signed "Ch. Ruchot" from the Art Nouveau period around 1900, and is entitled "Maree Basse," or Low Tide.
The lovely barefoot young woman is captured while walking into a breeze, depicted strolling on the sea shore. The original patinated bronze finish is charmingly worn on this work of art cast in spelter metal, an alloy similar to pewter.
There are restorations to her right arm and to the base, see photos. A black marble pedestal is modern. Height is 14" overall.
Charles Ruchot was a noted sculptor of the age in France, and has numerous works in museums around the world.
