A set of six dining chairs was hand carved with grapevine motifs and spiral columns about 1890 in the mountainous Black Forest region, where France, Germany and Switzerland meet. Seat caning is in very good condition, and there are later faux leather custom cushions with velcro straps included as well.
Solid oak, the original finish is well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Frames are tight and strong, reglued to serve another generation on this historic European furniture. There is wear and minor mars at the edges for a little antique character, see photos.
Measurements are 18" wide, 18" deep, 42 1/2" tall and seats are 18" high and 14" deep.
