From the 1890's, a "stereoscope" viewer was made to view stereo photograph cards with a three dimensional effect. Also called a "stereopticon," the viewer is maple with an engraved aluminum hood, an exotic metal at the time. Lenses are original and the handle folds on this American made antique.
The finish is original and has enough wear for a little antique patina. A random collection of about 40 stereo cards includes views of Niagara Falls and Texas plus numerous scenes from around the world.
The viewer measures 7" across, 13" long and 8" tall including the folding handle.
