Still Life with Flowers, 1920's Antique Oil Painting, Signed Van Der Smissen

A still life with flowers in a vase has an unusual outdoor garden background, and shows the bold brushwork that the artist, Leo Van Der Smissen, is famous for. The canvas of this original painting on canvas is undamaged, and dates from the 1920's.

Van Der Smissen, who lived 1900-1966, was a famed artist in his native Belgium. He studied at the Academy in Bruges 1913-1919.

There is just enough wear for a little antique character on the genuine gold leaf frame.

Overall size is 27" x 25 1/2" and 2 1/2" deep.
