Tobey of Chicago Carved Mahogany Empire Queen Size 3 Pc. Bedroom Set

A truly magnificent American Empire 1900 era three piece bedroom set with a queen size bed is signed by Chicago's most famous maker, "Tobey, established 1856, Hand Made Furniture."

Solid mahogany is richly hand carved with classical acanthus motifs and columns, the satiny finish is in excellent condition with deep rich patina. Drawers have beautiful hand cut dovetail joints and solid cherry sides. Feet have original bronze wheels on this famous American made antique furniture. Superior workmanship is evident throughout this palatial suite.

The bed has been expertly adapted to fit a standard modern queen size mattress and spring unit (20" high together) as shown, there is a small loss at the end of one rail - see photos. Slats to support bedding are included.

Secret cannisters for jewelry are hidden on the dresser, which has a gallery with swivel mirror. A pushbutton underneath releases three spring loaded secret drawers. Measurements are 60" wide, 26" deep and 65" tall.

The tall chest or high boy also has a swivel mirror and two secret drawers. Size is 42" wide, 23" deep and 75" tall.

This historic set exemplifies the finest American craftsmanship of a century ago.
