Tooled Leather Library Secretary Desk & Chair, Secret Book Compartments #28943

A spectacular tooled leather covered secretary desk and chair were custom made for a private library in Ohio about 20 years ago. Hand painted "books" inside are actually secret compartments on this traditional Georgian style vintage furniture.

All original, the hand tooled leather and solid mahogany moldings and drawers have a very fine satiny finish. Subtly distressed to look antique, there are only minor mars, see photos.

The upper section has arched raised panel doors concealing an array of the faux "book" compartments, plus cubicles and drawers of various sizes. Locks and keys work. The separate base has a tooled leather top, the front drops down onto pull out supports. Hardware is nicely patinated brass, drawers have solid mahogany sides with hand cut dovetail joints.

Measurements of the desk are 35 1/2" wide tip to tip, 24" deep, 90" tall and the desktop is 30" high.

The matching chair measures 25" wide, 24" deep, 39" tall and the comfortable leather seat is 20" high.
