Travel Lap Desk, Portable 1890 Antique

Crafted of solid walnut about 1890, this charming little travel lap desk was the "laptop" of its day.

This American made box has a working lock, it opens to a slanted leather writing surface. Underneath are storage compartments for stationery. Two glass inkwells are next to the pen cubicle.

The original finish has wear and antique patina with gold accents. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos.

Measurements when closed are 12" long, 8" wide and 4 1/2" tall, open size is 12" x 16."
