Signed by famous maker, "Verdelite, Pat. May 8, 1917," this marvelous "banker's" desk lamp or piano lamp has an original emerald green blown glass shade. The name is from the verdelite tourmaline gemstone, the maker is reported as Faries of Decatur, Il.
To reflect light down onto paperwork, the interior of the blown shade was blown and cased with a layer of opal white glass, the bottom edge was then ground and polished. The shade has very tiny flakes on the bottom edge, see photos.
The supporting arm is adjustable both at the top and bottom, to also use on an upright piano or roll top desk. Solid brass mounts have an original dark bronze finish, there is an iron weight in the base.
The original standard base brass socket with pull chain switch has been rewired for safety.
The shade is 9" across, the base is 7" diameter and height of this nostalgic antique desk or piano light is 13" overall.
